Bring on the New Year

Well, this Christmas was a little tough for me. My oldest daughter went to spend Christmas with her father for the first time. So, decorating, family photos, and Christmas morning without her were all pretty tough. I still had my 3 youngest with me, so the chaos was still in full swing, but not having her here to celebrate Santa's return was a sombering experience for us all. She returned on the 26 with gifts from away, and it made me happy to know that she had a good time with her other family.

On my doula life, I am currently waiting for two wonderful little babe's to enter this world. My biggest fear as a doula - other then completely missing a birth- is to have 2 women call me at the same time! Since both due dates have passed with no baby, I am praying to the birth gods to give me at least 12 hours between! I love being busy in my work, but this may be a lesson to book clients a little further apart ;p

However, as I sit preparing for the New Year, I am looking forward to my meet the doula night in March, and all the posibility's this new career will bring. Remember, if you are preggers, or know of someone who is, give me a shout!

Terra Association Edmonton

So, I am volunteering with the Terra Association. I am part of there volunteer doula program. But there is so much more that this group offers! It is a wonderful centre for pregnant and parenting teens. I truly believe that programs like this are wonderful, and make a great impact in the lives of youth who are in this situation. Pregnancy, childbirth, and parenting is scary, and unpredictable for the best and brightest adults. The Terra Association gives teen parents a good start to a wonderful future. If you know of anyone who could use there services, please check out www.terraassociation.com or give me a shout!
Have a wonderful day!

SuperMomma Doula Services

Just thought I'd make a quick note to let you all know I am now taking on new clients for the new year. So anyone knowing anyone who is due in 2009, please feel free to contact me!
As a trained birth doula, I offer a free consultation to see if i fit your perfect doula match. If so, we can then set up 2 more prenatal sessions. The first one we go over birth wishes, discuss what you are most interested in learning about for labor and birth comfort, and any other thoughts you have. Our second visit, we go over comfort measures, relaxation techniques, discuss doc/midwife appointments, and of course anything else. I am on call for you 24/7 for at least a month before your expected due date, until about 6 weeks after baby is born. When you figure you are in labor, I expect you to call me, so that I can get to you in a timely manner. I am with you until baby arrives, my main goals are to make you comfortable. We can walk the halls, play cards, I even fetch snacks! I stay until about 2 hours after to make sure you are comfortable, that you and baby are getting the hang of breastfeeding should you choose to do so. After about a wee, I'll call you at home to see how things are going, and to set up a postnatal appointment. At this meeting, we can talk about your birth, how you are feeling now, any concerns you have, and I give you a personalized memory book with pictures and notes of the big event.
If you would like more information on everything I do as a doula, or what a doula is, please check out my website http://supermommadoulaservices.webs.com/
Thanks for getting to know me!
